Robert Thompson

Robert Thompson , 90, of Lorain, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Lake Pointe Health Care Center where he had been a resident for the past year. He was born June 19, 1921 in Lorain and was a lifelong area resident. Robert was owner- operator of Thompson's Landscaping for 30 years. He was a W.W.II veteran and served with B Company 368 Engineers across Normandy, Northern France and the Ardennes. Robert enjoyed fishing and was an avid photographer documenting his children, travels and family. He is survived by his son Dale (Camilla) Thompson of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter Jayne Lytel of Saudi Arabia; grandchildren Lorne Thompson, Leo and Lucas Lytel; brother Chuck (Dolly) Thompson of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Marguerite (nee Powers) Thompson; wife Agnes (nee Jakmas) October 10, 2011; brother Norman Thompson. Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home & Cremation Service 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery. Deacon Bob Dybo will officiate. Military graveside honor's will be conducted by the Lorain Honor Guard American Legion Post # 30, and V.F.W. Post # 451.
