Robert H. Whorton, 86, of Vermilion, died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness. Robert "Bob" was born August 3, 1935 in Moundsville, WV, but he eventually relocated to Vermilion in search of gainful employment. Bob quickly found work at a myriad various skilled labor jobs, but he eventually started the business "CandB Office Machines" with his brother Curt in 1966. Bob would continue to work hard for another 54 years until retiring in 2010. Bob was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Vermilion. He spent a significant amount of his time working hard at home and work, but always made time to spend with his family, coach his sons' baseball teams, enjoy playing cards, and take day trips and/or long walks hand in hand with his beloved wife. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Thao Ho) Whorton of Boonton, NJ and Joseph (Clarita) Whorton of Amherst; grandchildren, Jonathan, Andrew, Sarah, and Bianca; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cara Sue Whorton in 2007; parents, Curtis and Gladys (nee Kraft) Whorton; brother, Curtis Whorton Jr.; and his sisters, Audrey and Glenda. The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 17, 2022, from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend David Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
