Roberta P. Reed (nee Ries), 57, of Vermilion, died Sunday, June 12, 2005 in Cleveland Clinic Foundation after a sudden illness. She was born November 20, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio. She has been a life long area resident. She worked as a toll collector on the Ohio Turnpike for the past 7 years. She also had worked at Fifth Third Bank in Vermilion and for the Vermilion Schools in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church. She was also a member of the Madeline Chapter of the Eastern Star # 204 where she had been Worthy Matron. She was a member of the AMVETS Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post # 7576 Ladies Auxiliary . She enjoyed fishing, gardening, walking, animals and traveling. She was survived by her husband of 37 years, Larry Reed; 2 daughters Rachel Reed and Jill Reed, both of Vermilion; and a son, Brian Reed of New York, New York. She was preceded in death by her sister, Chloris Zimmerman and her parents, Paul and Aileen Chloris (nee Bond) Ries. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 16, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Madeleine Chapter of Eastern Star #204 will conduct services at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Friday, June 17, 2005 at 10 am with Pastor Bob Daugherty, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Eastern Star Home, 1451 Gambier Road, State Rt 229 East, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.
