Rodger D. Scott, 82, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.
He was born February 5, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee, and had been a longtime resident of Vermilion.
Rodger proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he began a dedicated career with Ford Motor Company in Lorain, where he worked in the paint booth for 30 years before retiring. In addition to his work at Ford, Rodger also served the City of Vermilion as a police officer, demonstrating his deep commitment to his community.
He was a member of Harbourtown Community Church, a 32nd Degree Mason with Ely Lodge #424, and had served as a trustee for Vermilion Township. Rodger was a talented craftsman who especially enjoyed auto body work and restoring cars. He found great joy in gardening, traveling-particularly on cruises-and gathering with friends and family for lively volleyball parties. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his beloved grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (nee Haber) Scott of Vermilion; his sons, Bret Scott and Rick Scott; his grandsons, Nathan and Alex; and his brother, Art Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, DeWitt “Red” and Ardie Madena (nee Markle) Scott; and his brothers, Chris and Pete Scott.
