Roger Wayne Perry, 61, of Lorain, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born March 2, 1942 in Huntington, West Virginia. He has been a Amherst and Lorain resident for the past 14 years. He worked as a supervisor for the State of Ohio Bureau of Employment Services in Lorain for 8 years retiring in 1994. He had also worked for the Bureau in Elyria and Cleveland. He had worked as a dispatcher for the Interstate Trucking Co. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion. He was a former member of the AMVETS in Lorain and Sandusky. He enjoyed his church activities, music and his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Duane Perry of North Ridgeville; 2 daughters, Tammy Burnworth of Lorain, and Brenda Burnworth of Berlin Heights, a foster daughter, Tina Brown, of Avon; 7 granddaughters; and 3 brothers, Ray Perry, Earl Perry, and Joe Perry all of Boone County , WV. Preceding him in death were his parents, Carl and Linnie (nee Wilson) Perry, and an infant sister. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. An evening veterans service will be held at 7:30 pm. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Friday, February 13, 2004, at 11 am at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Contributions may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Ave., Vermilion, OH 44089.
