Rolland H. Green Sr., 98 of Elyria, formerly of Vermilion, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville. He was born April 17, 1910 in Castalia, and had been a Vermilion resident since 1946. He was a farmer for many years in Sandusky and Vermilion with the Brick Schied and Russell Farms. He was employed by Jamby Oil in Oberlin and retired from Independent Oil Company in Oberlin. Rolland was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermilion. He enjoyed woodcrafts, jigsaw puzzles, and playing pinochle. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Elizabeth E. (nee String) Green; son, Rolland (Carol) Green, Jr. of Elyria; daughter, Margaret (Ray) Olah of Lorain; 4 grandchildren, Shirley, Karen, Michael and Brian; and 5 great grandchildren, Kelly, Christopher, Abigail, William and Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary (nee Chill) Green; sisters, Mary Green, Margaret Grose, and Edna Lorcher, and brothers, Fred, Carl and George Green. The family will receive friends Friday, July 18, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St. Vermilion. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:00 am at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron with the Reverend Terry Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermilion, officiating.
