Vermilion -Ronald LeRoy Millett, 65, of Vermilion, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, after a sudden illness. He was born March 12, 1938 in Cambridge Springs, PA and has been a resident of Vermilion since 1981 after moving from Vacaville, CA. After retiring from the City of Vermilion Utilities Department, he became an Auctioneer and certified appraiser for Millett Auction House in Vermilion. He owned and operated Aunt Ruth's Family Store in Vermilion-on-the-Lake and Village Square Annex Bed and Breakfast in Vermilion. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, served as a corrections officer in California, and was a lifetime member of Vermilion AMVETS Post #22. He was a member of AA, and the Escapees Inc., a non-profit organization of RV owners. Ron enjoyed traveling, antiquing, collecting, and cooking. He appeared on television as a ventriloquist and was patron of the arts. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Elizabeth (nee Nemeth) Millett, his mother, Zaidee (nee Drake) Reed of Vacaville, CA; 2 daughters, Amanda Millett of Vacaville, CA and Maribeth Pullis-Kennedy of Lumberton, NJ; a son, Brian Pullis of Vermilion; a grandson; brother, Tom Schlindwein of Louisville, KY; sister, Monica Easley of Vacaville, CA; step sisters, Barbara Schlindwein and Nancy Howland both of Erie, PA. Preceding him in death were his father, Albert Millett, and brother, Timothy Millett. A memorial services will be held at German's Villa, 3330 Liberty Ave., Vermilion, Ohio, Saturday, May 24, 2003, at 1 p.m. The Reverend Louis Bertoni, former pastor of the United Church of Christ Congregational, will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors following the service. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Northwest Ohio Chapter, 1689 East 115 Street, and Cleveland, Ohio 44106-3988. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, is handling arrangements.
