Ronald “Ronnie” Joseph Soczynski, 83, formerly of Lorain, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Ames Family Hospice.
Ronnie was born on February 12, 1943, in Buffalo, New York, and moved to Lorain in 1958, where he made his home for many years. More recently, he moved to the 1907 Central School in Amherst, where he quickly made numerous friends and became affectionately known as “Hollywood.”
Ronnie worked as a security guard for Northern Ohio Security Agency and U.S. Steel. He was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church in Lorain, where he served as an usher, and was formerly a member of St. John’s Church in Lorain.
Ronnie enjoyed Cleveland baseball, music, dancing, old movies, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a particular appreciation for opera music, especially the music of Sarah Brightman.
He is survived by his half-brother, Jerry Pietrzak of Lorain.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Celia (nee Soczynski) Pietrzak, and his longtime companion, James L. Gregory.
Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a prayer service at 12:00 noon at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Private interment will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
