Roscoe Ellis, age 61, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 in St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, following a brief illness. He was born on October 9, 1943 in Switzer, West Virginia and raised in Chapmanville, West Virginia. He moved to Cleveland in 1964 and then to the Lorain County area in 1969. Ellis was employed as an assembler, relief man, and a van and tug driver for the Ford Automotive Plant in Lorain , retiring in December, 2003. He was also a member of the UAW Local 425. Roscoe's biggest pleasure in life was his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren and his dogs. He also enjoyed hunting, repairing automobiles and gardening. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 38 years, Marilyn (nee Carroll) Ellis of Lorain; sons, Steve (Ambrose) and his wife Denise of Lorain, Tony (Anthony) and his wife Cathy of Amherst, Kenny of Cleveland and daughter, Pam Ellis of Lorain; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Darvin and Buster Ellis, both of West Virginia; sisters, Emyl Lee Shields of West Virginia, Josephine Whitt of Vermilion, Jessie Dillon of West Virginia and Easter DeBerry of Pennsylvania. He also leaves his 4 beloved dogs, Tippy, Hause, Bear and Buster. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Wilson and Anna (nee Workman) Ellis and brothers, Jimmie, Doug and Anse Ellis. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Services will be held at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 7, 2004, with Pastor Dave Hawk officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
