Rose Elizabeth Pietromica (nee Klingshirn), 81, of Vermilion, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at Independent Village of Avon Lake following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 16, 1944, in Lorain, Ohio, and had made Vermilion her home since 1976, moving from Avon Lake. She was a graduate of Avon Lake High School.
Rose’s life was centered on her faith and her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her beloved granddaughters. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures-sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, taking long walks, and watching classics and westerns. One of her most cherished traditions was her annual trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama with her four sisters, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. She was loved "A bushel and a peck" by her family.
A faithful member of Saint Mary Parish in Vermilion, Rose generously shared her time and talents with her church community. She assisted with cleaning and preparing the church for Mass and liturgical seasons, created altar pieces, and lovingly sewed vestments, offering her gifts in quiet and dedicated service.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rudolph “Rudy” Pietromica; her son, Jason (Tracy) Pietromica; her daughter, Laura Pietromica; her granddaughters, Lila and Eva Pietromica; her brother, Ralph (Karen) Klingshirn; and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Francis and B. Helen (nee Hassel) Klingshirn; and her siblings, Louise (Tom) Montgomery, Paul (Irena) Klingshirn, Ruth (John) Pikus, Carol Rieth, Doris (Raymond) Linden, and John Klingshirn.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 3 - 5 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A prayer service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Easter Seals of Northwestern Ohio, 2173 North Ridge Road, Suite G, Lorain, OH 44055.
