Roy E. Shroyer, 82 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 in EMH Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born December 12, 1923 in Elyria, OH. He has been a Vermilion resident since 1959 moving from Grafton. He worked as a Mechanic for E & L Transport in Lorain retiring in 1985 after 27 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was a member of VFW Post 7576, Vermilion, Ely Masonic Lodge # 424, and Eastern Stars. He was active with the KOA (Kampers of America) where he enjoyed traveling to the different camping rallies. He is survived by his 3 sons, Ray Shroyer of Waxhaw, NC; Dennis Shroyer of North Canton, and Brian Shroyer of Vermilion; 1 daughter, Dot Maners of Berlin Hts.; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Gerald Shroyer of Grafton, and Steve Shroyer of Las Vegas, NV and loving companion, Marie Beck. Preceding him in death were his parents, Loren and Myrtle (nee Smith) Shroyer, his first wife Merrelda in 1971, 2nd wife Beverly in 1994, son, Roy Shroyer; 3 brothers, Merle, Elson, and Herb Shroyer; and 4 sisters, Ruth Reed, June Gunder, Alta Jones, and Myrtle LeMasters. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9, at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct evening Military Services at 8:30 p.m. and Masonic Services at 8:45 p.m. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jim Cooper, pastor of Harbourtown Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Burn Hospital , 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3094.
