Ruby L. MacDougall, 59 of Vermilion, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Community Health Partners following a lengthy illness. She was born August 8, 1948 in Pikeville, Kentucky and has lived in Vermilion for the past 32 years, moving from Lorain. She worked as a cook for the Compass House and the Key, both in Lorain, as well as for the Tea Room in Vermilion. She was a member of Al-Anon, enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating on Lake Erie, fishing and camping. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and babysitting, and cherished her visits with family and friends at family gathering. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Griff MacDougall, of Vermilion; daughters, Dewona (Dennis) Short of Caruthersville, Missouri, Laura (Bill) Ashworth of Medina and Isabell (Barry) Hammond, of Berlin Heights; son, Dewaine (Shila) Hobbs of Cardwell, Missouri; step-son, Scott (Susan) Payne of Lorain; 9 grandchildren; sister, Josephine (Herb) Keithley of Lorain; half-sister, Rhonda Tackett; brother-in-law, Bill Norror of Kipton; several neices and nephews. She was preceded-in-death by her parents, Earl and Margaret (nee Crittenden) Richardson, daughter, Margaret Hobbs, brother, Marshall Richardson and a sister, Oritas Borror. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where services will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 11:00am. Pastor Jack Ison, of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
