Ruby Alice Shaffer

Ruby Shaffer, 83 of Milford, formerly of Lorain, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Sem Haven Nursing Home, Milford, following a long illness. She was born November 29, 1923 in Shinston, West Virginia and had lived most of her adult life in Lorain, moving to Milford 3 years ago. She was a devoted homemaker for her husband and family, and had also worked at the US Steel Company for 19 years as a pipe stenciler, retiring in 1962. She attended Broadway Assembly of God Church in Lorain and Wesleyan Church. Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Shaffer Goodin of Milford; son, Bryan Shaffer of Lorain; brothers, Bernard Ashley of Medina and Charles Ray Ashley of Worthington, WV; sisters, Virginia Hescht of Brunswick, Shirley Greaver and Margie McDougal, both of Shinston, WV, Loma Leeson of Clayton, NC; 1 Granddaughter and 2 Great Granddaughters. Preceding her in death were her husband, George Shaffer in 2002, parents, George Cleveland and Pinkie Alice (nee Stinson) Ashley, sisters, Reva Griffen, Mary Bell Parks and Dorothy Root; brothers, Raymond, Edward, Harold and Everett (Buck) Ashley. Friends may call on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Matt Jones, pastor of Broadway Assembly, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon.
