Russell C. Alaimo

Russell C. Alaimo, 87, of Vermilion, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. He was born September 30, 1919 in Buffalo, NY. He has been a Vermilion resident since 1961. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He was wounded in the Italian Campaign and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked on the line and as an inspector for 43 years. He retired in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. He enjoyed dance roller skating, baking, gardening, walking and ball room dancing. Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary (nee Bova) Alaimo of Vermilion; daughters, Diane Firestine, Deborah Maurer, Lisa Ann Wilmoth, all of Vermilion; son, Gregory Alaimo of Amherst; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Gregorio and Salvatrice (nee Paruzzo) Alaimo; his 3 brothers, Samuel, Charles and Joseph Alaimo, and sisters, Mary Cuchinella, Rose Tartaglione, and Fay Dubreville. Friends may call Monday, May 28, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m. Father Jim Holmer will officiate. Interment will follow in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, Sandusky.
