Ruth Marie Normando, 84, died June 11, 2010 in Dayton, Ohio where she had resided since February, 2006. She was born August 10, 1925 in Vermilion, Ohio to Alva and Nina (Driver) Snell who preceded her in death. On May 19, 1945 she was married at the Vermilion Congregational Church to Lester E. Normando who died March 31, 1974. Mrs. Normando lived most of her life in Vermilion. She graduated from Vermilion High School in 1943 and attended Bowling Green State University. After her marriage, she and her husband lived on Route 60 near Birmingham, Ohio, but after his death, she moved back to Vermilion to be near family and friends. Ruth loved to travel, read, dance, go to movies, and spend time with her friends, some of whom she had known for 70 years. Mrs. Normando was a former member of the Lakeland Women's Club and a Lorain Community Hospital Volunteer. She had been the Birmingham Methodist Church Sunday School treasurer for 15 years. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, spending time with them, attending their sporting events and other activities. She also spent many enjoyable years with her companion, George Hinchcliffe, who died September 10, 2007. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Normando is survived by her two daughters; Leslie J. (Dwaine) Holt of Lima, Ohio and Janet R. (Louis) Leonard of Kettering, Ohio, her four grandchildren; Kristen L. Holt of Ft. Collins, CO, Jennifer J. (William) Cole, of Summerville, SC, Timothy D. Holt of San Mateo, CA and Adam L. (Maggie) Leonard of Bowling Green, Ohio and her two great-grandsons, Ethan William and Daniel Dwaine Cole of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by her brother, James A. (Virginia) Snell of Vermilion, OH, her sister-in-law, Betty Harden of North Canton, OH and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Snell, and sister-in-law, Delores Snell, her brother-in-law, Raymond Normando, and sister-in-law, Gloria Normando. Friends may call Monday, June 14, 2010 from 6p.m.-8p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. A private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion, OH.
