Ruth E. Richmond

Ruth E. Richmond (nee Shirk), 91, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 17, 1931 in Elyria, OH and had been a life long Vermilion and Huron resident.

Ruth worked as a school bus driver for Vermilion Schools for over 20 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a past member of the St. Clair Rebekah Lodge and a member of AMVETS Post #22 and VFW Post #7576.  She loved bowling and playing the piano.  She also enjoyed playing the accordion, cooking, baking, crocheting, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and family gatherings.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Springborn of Amherst and Caryl Eckenfels of Vermilion; sons, Thomas A. Springborn of Elyria, Steven Springborn of Vermilion and Randy Springborn of Lorain; special son-in-law, Vern Hancock of Wellington; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and her brother, Larry Shirk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Richmond, parents, Walter and Katherine (nee Arnold) Shirk; step-daughter, Debra Hancock; brother, Donald "Jim" Shirk; and her first husband, Arnold Springborn.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
