Sally Kay Russell (nee Brown), 71, of Oberlin, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic Richard E Jacobs Health Center following a short illness.
Born on August 1, 1952, in Mount Vernon, OH, Sally called Oberlin home for the past 31 years, also finding solace in the sunshine of Florida.
A devoted educator, Sally dedicated 25 years to shaping young minds within the halls of Amherst Schools. Her passion for teaching left an indelible mark on countless lives.
Beyond her professional life, Sally found joy in the simple pleasures - from the thrill of shopping to the fulfillment of volunteering. She enjoyed puzzles, card games, and the company of cherished friends. Her love for travel enriched her life, creating lasting memories and experiences.
Sally is survived by her brother, Dennis (Lyse) Brown of Wellington, OH, and her sister, Lori (David) Afrates of Avon Lake, OH.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Russell, and her parents, Verle and Jeanne (nee Hartsell) Brown.
The family will warmly welcome friends for a visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, located at 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A heartfelt funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Riddle Funeral Home, with interment to follow at New Russia Township, Oberlin.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, honoring Sally's compassionate spirit.
