Sandra Kay Stark

Sandra Kay Stark (nee Retay), 70, of Vermilion , died Friday, February 28, 2014 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after an 11 year courageous battle against cancer. Sandra was born August 9, 1943 in Lorain and had lived in Vermilion 25 years. Sandra worked as a florist for Frank Kalo Flowers and Hixson's Florist, Lorain and had managed Old Jibs Corner. in Vermilion. She was a member of the Friends of Harbortown and active in the Way International Biblical Research Ministry. She enjoyed sewing and reading the bible. She is survived by her sons, Shawn Stark of Vermilion, Darren Stark of Lorain, Ryan (Beverly) Stark of Amherst; her mother, Irene Retay (nee Kalo) of Amherst, grandchildren, Joshua Stark, Jacob Stark, Leah Bilby, Monica Stark, Cecilia Stark, Colin Stark and Paige Teter; sister, Michelle Retay of Vermilion and brother, Allen (Peggy) Retay of Avon. She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Retay and a sister, Gerry Nielsen. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
