Sarah "Sally" Lobdell (nee Caughey), age 85, formerly of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion, following a brief illness.
Sally was born on August 12, 1939, in Cleveland, OH, where she spent most of her life. Last year, she moved to Arizona to enjoy her retirement. A dedicated nurse, Sally worked tirelessly in hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career, retiring only last year. Her commitment to care giving and helping others was central to her life.
Sally had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed bird watching, rock collecting, and needlework. She was an avid reader and loved Westerns, often listening to the music of Jimmy Buffet and Toby Keith. Her faith journey was inspired by her husband, who served as a Deacon in the Catholic Church. Together, they supported various church communities, including St. Clement, Holy Spirit Church in Avon, St. Bruno’s Parish in Nadeau, MI, and St. Edward and St. Lucy’s Church in Cleveland, as well as several other parishes.
Sally is survived by her children, Joseph (Elizabeth) Lobdell, Elizabeth (John) Rowe, and Mark (Mary) Lobdell; her beloved grandchildren, Ben, Tony, Emily, Andy, Jacob, Noah, Katrina, Mark, Maddy, Gavin, Penelope, Courtney, Zach, Halley, and Jasmine; her brother, Jim Caughey III; and her sisters, Helen Taft and Ann Koons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lobdell; her son, Daniel Lobdell; her parents, James P. and Ursula D. (nee Halligan) Caughey, and her sister, Maryann Caughey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Clement Catholic Parish, 2022 Lincoln Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107. Inurnment will be held at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a local food bank of the donors choice.
