Sarann Shields Schnitzler Snyder, 76, completed her life's journey at her home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Ft Myers, Florida, while under the care of Hope Hospice after a 2 month illness. Sara was born on Feb. 12, 1938, in Amherst, to late Earl F. and Ileta Blanche (nee McFadden) Shields. She attended Clearview High School and worked as Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for 15 years for Shields Nursing Clinic in Lorain and for 3 years the Huron Health Care Center in Huron. She also worked at PNC Bank and Bank of America on Pine Island, Fl. where she was a resident for the past 35 year before moving to Ft Myers. Sara always showed much affection for older adults and would invite several of them without families to her home for dinner on many occasions. She was a former member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain and Trinity Lutheran Church, Pine Island, FL. She was also a member of the Ohio Health Care Association, Quota Club Interanatioal, VFW Post # 4353 Pine Island, Fl and Elks Post #1301 Lorain. She was a wonderful cook, which we shall miss, but we have her recipes. She enjoyed Ohio State football, reading, BINGO, and game shows. Sara leaves behind her sons, John (Colleen) Schnitzler of Augusta, GA and Mark (Susan) Schnitzler of Vermilion; daughter in law Laurie (late Charles) Jenkins of Seville, OH; 7 grandchildren, Brook and Eric Schnitzler of Augusta, GA; Amanda Mobley, Tiffany Hanna, Elizabeth, Laurel, and David Jenkins all of Servile; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Earl (Julie) Shields of Naples, FL; sisters, Eldonna Shields-Kyle of Vermilion, and Cathleen Klier of Ashland, and her wonderful friend/caregiver Suzie (Jim) Cross of Cape Coral, Fl. Sara is now reunited with her parents, husband's Jack Schnitzler in 1986 and Lewis Snyder in 2000; her oldest son, Charles Edward Jenkins in 1999 and sister, Bonnie Golden in 2013. A committal service will be held at a later date in Ridge Hill Memorial Gardens, Amherst with the Reverend Jimmy Mason officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church , building fund, 603 Washington Avenue Lorain, Ohio 44052-1497.
