Stanley Arthur Brumby, 69, of Vermilion, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home after a sudden illness. Stanley was born December 31, 1941 in Oberlin. He was raised in Kipton and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 35 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Stanley worked as a pipe fitter for Local Union #42, Norwalk, for 42 years. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Kipton. He was also a life member of AMVETS Post #22, Vermilion a member of American Legion Post # 397 and a former member of Allport Yatch Club, Sandusky. He enjoyed boating, fishing and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Beverly Brumby (neeDegan) of Vermilion; son, John (Ellen) Brumby of Wakeman; daughter, Denise (John) Ratzer of Marietta; stepdaughter, Sherry (Ben) Greenholtz of Elyria; step son, Stephen (Kathy ) Mannon of Marion; 7 grandchildren, brothers, Lowell (Marilyn) Brumby of Elyria, and Lynn David (Jan) Brumby of Ventura, CA and a sister, Gwen Puetz of Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndon and Lucille (nee Born) Brumby. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Father James Ols will officiate.
