Stephen Ferenczy, 87, of Vermilion and formerly of Solon, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 22, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past three years, moving from Solon, where he had lived for 54 years.
Steve proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
He enjoyed a successful 47 year career in banking, working as a bank manager in the Cleveland and Solon areas before retiring in 2004. Throughout his career, he worked for City Loan and Savings, United Savings and Loan, and U.S. Bank.
Steve was a longtime member of the Solon Kiwanis Club and enjoyed fishing, sports, bowling and vacationing with family. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his family. He treasured the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by those he loved. Whether enjoying family gatherings, sharing stories, or simply spending time together, Steve valued the moments that brought his family close. His love for his family and the memories they created together will remain a cherished part of his legacy.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy (nee Zak) Ferenczy; sons, Steve (Lori) Ferenczy, MD, of Vermilion and Jeff (Melissa) Ferenczy; grandchildren, Stephen, William, Katherine, Jillian, and Audra and nieces and nephews, Debbie (Dave) Furry, Doreen (Dave) Sawicki, and Joseph K (Maria) Ferenczy II.
