Sylvia Jean Harris, 69, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital following a brief illness.
Jean was born on August 29,1955 in Lorain, OH, and spent the last eight years in Elizabethtown, having previously resided in Vermilion and Lorain.
Jean was known for her kind heart, her infectious sense of humor, and her unwavering friendship. She had an incredible ability to brighten any room with her warmth and always offered a positive outlook on life, no matter the circumstances. Jean had a gift of making others feel seen and valued, offering unconditional support and love to her family and friends. She was a light in the lives of all who knew her.
Throughout her career, Jean held various positions, including her work as a Respiratory Therapist at Kingston of Vermilion. She had been a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene in Vermilion.
Jean loved playing BINGO, card games, and board games, as well as taking the occasional trip to the casino. She was a dog lover, and was especially fond of her Chihuahua Minnie. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her son, Jess Willard Harris III (Rachael Cook) of Vermilion; her sisters, Mary Gay (Ronnie) Vanover of Vermilion and Diane (Roger) Lore of Amherst; her brother, Ronnie Allen (Donna) Taylor of Erie, PA; her nieces, Tamara Graham, Breanna Fuhrman, and Bethany Graham; and her great-great-nephew, Luke Fuhrman. She is also survived by her nieces, Shawna Sultzer and April Taylor; her nephew, Jeff Taylor; and many more great-nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Elizzie (nee Adkins) Taylor; her maternal grandparents, Cecil and Ida Adkins; and her nephews Bobby Vanover and Derek Lore.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Reverend David Johnson will officiate.
