Tad Willis Phillips, 50, of Vermilion, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 16, 1975, in Elyria, Ohio, and had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 25 years.
Tad dedicated over 20 years of service as a lineman with CenturyLink and previously served his community as a volunteer firefighter for Vermilion.
He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels, photography, and camping, but most of all cherished the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Shelby (nee Buchanan) Phillips; his sons, David Buchanan and Cooper (Myah) Phillips; cherished grandchildren, Aurora and Forrest; mother, Loretta (nee Akers) Kishman; brother, Todd Phillips; brother-in-law, Donny (Michelle) Buchanan; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and Darrin Daverick, Jordan and Amanda Buchanan, and Jonathan Phillips; and his aunt and uncle, Alice and Rick Herdt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Phillips, and his stepfather, William Kishman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Donate Life at donatelife.net or consider becoming a living donor in Tad’s memory.
