Teresa Catherine Bishop

Teresa Catherine Bishop (nee Sheffer), 86, of Vermilion, died Friday, May 21, 2010 in EMH Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness. She was born January 13, 1924 in Buffalo, NY and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 50 years moving from Wakeman. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and the Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered at St. Mary School Library for many years. Teresa had been a member of the Mothers Club at Our Lady of Victory School, Lackawanna, NY and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed watching and playing golf, bowling, and supporting her favorite University of Michigan football team. Survivors include her daughter, Sister Irene Bishop R.S.M of Fremont; son, Frederick W.(Pierrette) Bishop, Jr. of Quebec, Canada; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Sheffer and Frances Hoffman of West Seneca, NY. Preceding her in death were her husband Frederick Bishop, Sr in 1985; parents, Paul and Eva (nee Carter) Sheffer; son Martin W. Bishop in 2001; granddaughter, Katherine Bishop; grandson, Brian Kelly Bishop; brothers, Paul and Bernard Sheffer and sister Marie Sheffer. Friends may call Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South Street Vermilion, where a wake service will be held at 8:30 pm. Prayer will be said at the funeral home on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11 am followed by a 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Father Phil Feltma will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
