Terry Lynn Carter, 68, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 9, 1956, in Welch, WV, Terry moved to Vermilion 56 years ago, making it his lifelong home.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Terry dedicated 31 years to the City of Vermilion as a Lab Technician with the water department before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Church of God, a lifetime member of Amvets Post #22, and a former member of the Bow and Barrel Club.
Terry found joy in deer hunting, golfing, following Cleveland Sports Teams and, most of all, spending time with his family. His greatest happiness came from watching his grandson’s activities and taking golf cart rides with his daughter, Lindsey.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Tammy L. Carter; daughters, Tera (Eric) Gonzales and Lindsey Carter, both of Vermilion; cherished grandson, Carter Gonzales; sisters, Judy Eggleston and Katherine (Gene) Cline; brothers, Roy, Ray (Elaine), David (Joanne), Steve, John (Darla), Ellery, and Tim (Darlene) Carter; brother-in-law, Dotson Riffe; and many nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Tazzie (née Lester) Carter; sister, Bonnie Riffe; and brother-in-law, Clyde Eggleston.
