Thomas Edward Boyd, 90, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born October 11, 1931 in Urbana, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 64 years moving from Lorain. Thomas was a veteran of the US Army serving during Korean War. Thomas worked as a welder at American Shipyards, Lorain for 25 years and then for the Iron Worker Local #17, Cleveland for an additional 25 years. He was a member of Amvets Post #22 and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edna Mae (nee Cruikshank) Boyd of Vermilion; son, Edward Alan Boyd of Vermilion; daughters, Pamela Diane Boyd of Vermilion and Rhonda Colleen (Kenneth) Scruggs of New Braunfels, TX; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Eulah (nee Copas) Boyd; sons, Brian Dwayne Boyd in 2021 and Russell William Boyd in 1971; brothers, Albert, Terry, and James; and his sisters, Betty, Russelene, and Adhmene. The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Pastor Jim Cooper will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery.
