Thomas Allen Elbert

Thomas A Elbert, 73, of Vermilion, died Friday, April 12, 2024 at Ames Family Hospice Facility after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 6, 1951 in Sandusky, grew up in Elyria and  had been a Vermilion resident for the past 27 years.

Tommy held many positions during his professional life, including dedicating 20 years to York International working in maintenance.

Tommy was known for being a good and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was his family and he cherished the family vacations spent in Florida. His other great loves were playing golf and spending time with his trusted companion, "Crazy Ruby Tuesday". He enjoyed watching Cleveland Sports and NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Betty Elbert of Vermilion; children, Derek (Jen) Elbert of Lagrange, Craig (Andrea) Elbert of South Amherst, and  Lynnae Elbert of Apopka, FL; grandchildren, Caili, Selaina, RJ, Tommy, Nate and Naomi; great-grandchildren, Ivy Mae, Gracelynn, and River James ; and beloved dog, Ruby;  he is also survived by his siblings; John (JoAyne) Elbert of Dunnellon, FL,  Terry (John McMillen) Elbert of Nova, and Paula (Gibby) Elbert of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Victor Elbert; mother, LaDonna (nee Schmitz) Walker, step father, Claude Walker; his brother, David Elbert, and sister, Gale Haller.

A private service to honor Tommy's life will be held at a later date.
