Thomas F. Lustek

Thomas F. Lustek, Sr., 77 of Lorain, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Renaissance Hospice Care Center in Olmsted Falls, following an 8-month illness. He was born May 18, 1932 in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident. He worked as a crane operator at US Steel for 36 years. He also worked at Pavlic Fleet Services in Cleveland for a short time after retirement. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain. Above all things, family came first with Tom. He loved to travel, whether it was a daytrip or an extended vacation. He enjoyed cars and outdoor yard work and was an avid bicycle rider. Tom was a proud American and supported dozens of local and national charities. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Matchette of Lorain and Catherine (Mark) Forman of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia; sons, Terrence V. (Sharon) Krucinski of Lorain and Thomas J. Lustek, Jr. of Elyria; 8 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daniel and Brandon Forman, Robert Matchette, Jennifer and Sarah Krucinski and Brandon and Travis Lustek; brother, Larry Lustek of Lorain; sisters, Doris Finkel of Sheffield Lake and Patricia Holmes of Amherst; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded-in-death by the love of his life, Rosemary Lustek (nee Wearsch), whom he was married to for 44 years, his parents, Gustav and Pauline (nee Lerchbacker) Lustek, brother Robert Lustek and sister, Alice Lustek. Friends may call on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 pm by members of the St. Anthony Marion Guild. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. Fr. Joseph West, OFM Conv., pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
