Thomas C. Smith

Thomas C. Smith, 74, of Vermilion, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness. He was born September 28, 1943 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 18 years moving from Copley. Thomas worked most of his career as a Systems Analyst for BF Goodrich, he then spent 10 years in sales for a water jet company in Akron before retiring in 2015. He also delivered produce from the West Side Market. He had been a member of the Austin-Healey Car Club and loved working on and collecting British cars. He also spent most of his free time tinkering in the garage trying to fix broken machinery. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (nee Alten) Smith of Vermilion; son, Tim (Heather) Smith of Akron; daughter, Hallie (Steve) Petee of Huron; and grandchildren, Hayden, Blair, Kyle, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Nancy (nee White) Smith and his brother, Warner Smith, Jr. Services will be held at a later date.
