Thomas E. Urig, 62, of Vermilion, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic after a one year illness. Born June 10, 1948 in Lorain he had been a Vermilion resident for the past 35 years moving from Sheffield Village. Thomas worked as an assembler and driver in the truck division for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 30 years. He was a member of St Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. Thomas was an avid bowler and enjoyed casinos, horse racing, NASCAR, watching sports, motorcycles, and hotrods. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Janice (nee Redman) Urig; daughter, Melissa (Kenneth) Hubbard of Amherst; son, Scott (Kristi) Urig of Columbus; mother, Vivian (nee Renner) Urig of Sheffield Lake; 4 grandchildren: Abbey and Megan Urig and Will and Nate Hubbard; sisters, Cathy (Dave) Ware of Sheffield Lake and Debbie (Tim) Frederick of Lorain; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Bob Glowacki, Elyria; nephews, Nick and Brian and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Urig in 1997. Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Jamie Stewart will officiate.
