Vera Stevens Hummel, 86, of Pueblo, Colorado, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 in University Park Care Center, Pueblo, Colorado. She was born July 21, 1918 in Louisville, Mississippi and had lived in Vermilion from 1958 to 1998 moving to California then Colorado. She was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lorain and the Italian American Veterans Club, Lorain. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Survivors include her son, Terry Stevens, Sheffield Lake; 6 grandchildren ; 6 Great Grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Ward and Bobbie Rodgers of Mississippi; and a brother, Ellis Holdiness, Jr. of Mississippi. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ellis and Lydia (nee Burnham) Holdiness , first husband, Grady Stevens, 1966, second husband, John Hummel, 1997, daughters, Sylvia and Wanda Kaye Stevens and stepsons, Norman and William Stevens. Graveside services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Friday, July 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. Matthew Humphrey, Funeral Celebrant, will officiate. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, is in charge of arrangements.
