Vincent J. Congregane, 87 of Sandusky, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky after a short illness. He was born February 18, 1917 in Staten Island, NY and moved to Vermilion in 1948. Mr. Congregane was a veteran of the US Army serving in France and Germany during WWII. He worked for New Departure, retiring after 14 years. He had also worked For T.J. Hume Construction for 28 yrs. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, he was a 3rd degree Charter member of the Knights of Columbus, and a 40 yr. member of the American Legion Post # 397. Mr. Congregane enjoyed walking and reading Western Novels. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Anne (nee Filipchak) Congregane, 2 sons: Alan Congregane of Denver, CO and Ken Congregane of Cape Coral, FL Daughter, Kathleen Garland of Memphis, TN , 4 granddaughters and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ralph and Antoinette (nee Divencenzo) Congregane, and twin son; Dennis John Congregane, brothers: John, James, Henry Congregane, a sister, Anne Piemontesi and a grandson, Brandan J. Congregane. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at 11:30 am at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion 731 Exchange St. Vermilion. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion is in charge of arrangements.
