Virginia Elizabeth Riggsby

Virginia Elizabeth Riggsby (nee Simon), 79, of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a short illness. She was born February 9, 1938 in Portsmouth, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 22 years. Virginia graduated from Providence Nursing School, Sandusky and worked as a Registered Nurse for several facilities including, Community Health Partners, St. Joseph Hospital, and St. John Westshore. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. She enjoyed reading, playing BINGO, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Sean Riggsby of Vermilion; daughter, Elizabeth Riggsby of Vermilion; granddaughter, Nicole (Jacob) Miller; grandson, Robert Hylton, great-granddaughter (on the way), McKenzie Miller; sister, Suzanne (Richard) Bozzi of Vermilion; and her brother, John Simon of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Delano Riggsby; parents, Bernard and Mary (nee Alkire) Simon; and her sister, Margaret "Margie" Neiding. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion.
