Vivian Lee Allen (née Dingess), 80, of Vermilion, passed after a long and meaningful life on January 8, 2026, at her daughter’s home.
She was born June 4, 1945, in Holden, West Virginia, and had been a Vermilion resident for more than 60 years.
Vivian was devoted to her home and family. She found joy in tending her flower gardens, working on puzzles, and caring for her household. Her quiet strength, dedication, and nurturing spirit were felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Billy E. Allen, Sr. of Vermilion; her daughter, Kimberly Wilhelm of Amherst; her son, Billy E. (Lynn) Allen, Jr. of Vermilion; grandchildren, Joshua, Laura, and Cara; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Owen, and Alexander.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, John and Luvenia “Vinnie” Dingess (née Pridemore); her siblings, Jack, Denver, Elvie, Benjamin, John, Dave, Fred, Leila, Lila, Delores “Jean,” Elaine, Lana, and Duanna Lynn; her great-grandson, Greyson and her son in law, James Wilhelm.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
