W.C. Cooper

W.C. "Dub" Cooper, 87, of Vermilion, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a short illness. He was born August 15, 1931 in Andalusia, AL and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 68 years. W.C. worked for Lithonia as a Truck driver for 29.5 years retiring in 1994. He had also worked at the Lorain Ship Yard, Cleveland Quarries, and Harry Hayes SOHIO Station. He was a member of Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion. He enjoyed crafts, mechanical work, camping, following Alabama football, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Lisa) Cooper of Berlin Heights and Lowell (Lynn) Cooper of Panama City Beach, FL; daughter, Elizabeth Henderson of Vermilion; daughter-in-law, Linda Cooper of Baytown, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgene Agnes Cooper in 2012; father, Charles Allen Cooper; step-mother, Bessie Rae Cooper; mother, Frances Elizabeth (nee Matthews) Cooper; son, Gary Cooper; son-in-law, Dave Henderson; grandson, Luke Henderson; brothers, Allen "Gordie", William "Vaugh", and Greeley Cooper; and his sisters, Jewel Harrelson and Ruby Hutcheson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
