William J. Grondin

William J. Grondin, 86 of Lorain, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Amherst Manor Retirement Community following a lengthy illness. He was born February 2, 1921 in Lorain where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Lorain High School and served in the United States Army. He was employed as a postal clerk for U.S. Post Office in Lorain for 25 years. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and the V.F.W. Post 451 in Lorain. He was a Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed reading. He is survived by his sisters, Della Barczyk of Lorain and Doris Mahilo of North Ridgeville; brothers, Milton Grondin of Grand Pass, Oregon and Arthur Grondin of Grafton. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Milton and Anna (nee Nicholson) Grondin, brothers, Robert and Charles and sister, Esther Mrosek. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2007 from 2-6 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 9:00 am in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lorain, with military honors conducted by members of the VFW Post 451. Memorial contributions are suggested to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Building and Rood Fund, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
