William "Will" Gorman Lydic, 66 of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 1, 2004 in Akron City Hospital, after a sudden illness. He was born August 12, 1937 in Indiana, PA, and has been a Vermilion area resident for the past 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving between 1956-1959. He retired from Avon Ford Automotive plant in 2003 and previously worked for Glidden in Huron. He was a graduate of Vermilion High School Class of 1955 and he attended Ohio University Athens, Ohio. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Vermilion. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 397; and former member of the Vermilion Amvets Post # 22. He enjoyed woodworking and reading. He was also a sports enthusiasts and especially enjoyed Nascar. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary "Sherry" (nee Grue); 2 sons, William "Bill" C. Lydic of Atlanta, GA and John D. Lydic of Atlanta, GA; 2 daughters, Jennifer A. Tewell of Chicago, IL and Carolyn "Beth" Lydic of Vermilion; step-son, Kevin Hohla of NY; step daughter, Kimberly Kennedy of Columbus, OH; 5 grandchildren; and sister, Carrol Harrison of Vermilion, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ann (nee Laney) Lydic. Friends may call Thursday, from 3 until the time of the funeral service at 6 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Rev. Chuck Davis, pastor of the First Assembly of God will be officiating. The Vermilion Veterans council will also be conducting military honors at 6 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.
