William E. Peasley, 58, of Oberlin, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at his home. He was born October 22, 1950 in Lorain and has been a life long area resident. He worked as a machinist for Lear Romec in Elyria for 34 years, and recently for Stand By Screw in Berea. He attended Firelands High School. He enjoyed working on cars, watching races and racing cars. He had the track record at Norwalk Raceway for over 10 years for stock car speed trials. He also raced at Raceway 42 in West Salem. Survivors include his mother, Lorraine (nee Quigg) Mayer, of Vermilion; daughters, Jennifer and her husband Douglas Adkins of Sullivan, and Tabatha Peasley of Mansfield; son, Dylan Burris; grandchildren, Dustin & Hailey Adkins and Gabriella Peasley; sisters, Edis Hite, Jane King, Debbie Sobieski, Trudy Schilens, and Susan Schnitzler all of Vermilion. His father, Merril Peasley, preceded him in death in 1981. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
