William S. "Bud" Ryan, 83, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home following a brief illness. Bud was born in Lorain and had been a life long resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Prior to his retirement as an auto body technician for various auto dealerships in the Lorain area, he worked for Railway Express as a truck driver and supervisor for 20 years. After his retirement, he worked at Mama Jo's Pies. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. He was an avid walleye and perch fisherman, and restored several Lyman boats over the years. He was a member of the Lyman Boat Owners Association and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lorain. He is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Kapucinski) Ryan; daughter, Laurie (Mark Kempton) Ryan of Avon; sons, Tom (Karyn) Ryan of Clifton, VA, and Tim Ryan of Lorain; grandsons, Ben and Sam; sister, Bert (Frank) Leshinski; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary (nee Toth) Ryan; sister, Gladys Sell; and niece, Marty Halsey. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Deacon Bob Dybo will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
