William "Bill" A. Shawver, 71 of Elyria, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at the EMH Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born March 30, 1935 in Lorain and has lived in Elyria for the last several years. He had also lived in Berlin Heights and Birmingham. He worked as a process technician for the B.F. Goodrich Tech Center in Avon Lake from 1957 until his retirement in 1992. He has most recently been employed as a laborer with Western Enterprises in Avon. He was a member of the Berlin Grange #345 in Berlin Heights, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping and was a NASCAR enthusiast. He is survived by 6 daughters, Cindi Shawver of Elyria, Laurie Ryan of Florida, Elizabeth Springer of Norwalk, Susan Meese of Olena, Cathy (Tom) Nelson of Norwalk and Daphne Shawver of Elyria; son, Jeffrey (Terri) Shawver of Elyria; 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Shawver of Elyria; former wife, June Shawver of Norwalk. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Floyd D. and Agnes M. (nee Braun) Shawver, a sister, Darlene Bates and a brother, Richard Shawver. Friends may call Thursday, May 18, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.
