William Sowders

Honoring the life of William Sowders, who peacefully left us at the age of 88 on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at his home, after facing a lengthy illness.

Born on September 21, 1935, in Trosper, KY, William made Vermilion his home for most of his life. He spent 32 years at Ford Motor Co., Lorain, in the paint department until he retired in 1992.

Outside of work, he was a proud Mason and a Christian man. A fan of Cleveland sports teams, he enjoyed spending time outdoors.

William is survived by his wife Hazel (nee Thacker) Sowders of 45 years. Alongside his wife, he is survived by his brother, Leslie Sowders and sister, Marcella Workman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie M. and Ethel (nee Hembree) Sowders and sister Betty Gray.

May William rest in peace, and may his memory bring comfort and inspiration to those who were lucky enough to know and love him.
