William R Stepp

William R. Stepp, 67, of Vermilion, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born April 1, 1948 in Asheville, NC, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 31 years moving from Detroit. William was a veteran of the US Marines serving during Vietnam. He worked as an over the road truck driver for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church, life member of Amvets Post #22 and VFW Post #1079, American Legions Post #397, and the Disabled American Veterans. William bowled on several leagues at Lake Erie Lanes and also golfed on the Monday nigh league at Vermilion Country Club. He loved watching the Cleveland Indians, bowling, golfing, reading and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cynthia (nee Steinmetz) Stepp of Vermilion; sons, Andrew "Rudy" (Sara) Stepp of Vermilion and Cory Steinmetz of Columbus; daughter, Kellyann Kirby of Huron; grandchildren: Tyler Kirby, and Haley and Adelina Stepp; and brothers,Don (Glenda) Stepp and John Stepp III both of Sevierville, TN. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Stepp in 1993; parents, John and Evelyn (nee Bentley) Stepp; and brother, John Lee Stepp. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 3:00 pm followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. The Reverend Nick Cacciatore will officiate. Interment will take place at Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Township at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans, 3543 Pickett Rd, Lorain, OH 44053.
