William Charles Warden, aged 77, passed away on January 3, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic Richard E Jacobs Health Center following a prolonged illness.
He was born on June 5, 1946, in Elyria, OH, where he spent his formative years before settling in Vermilion for the last 53 years of his life.
William's educational journey led him through Elyria High School and The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design. His passion for Industrial Design lives on through his two sons, both of whom have embraced and thrive in the same creative field.
For 35 dedicated years, William served as an Art Teacher at Longfellow Junior High School and Lorain Middle School before retiring. His commitment to his community extended beyond the classroom, as evidenced by his active role on the Vermilion Park Board. His artistic talent shone through in his contributions to creating initial sketches for Friendship Park and Showse Park. Additionally, he lent his expertise as a past member of the Cable Commission. William's passion for model making, cars, and crafting architectural drawings and signs for various individuals was a testament to his creative spirit.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Marie Warden, his sons John Warden of Bristol, RI, and Robert (Sara) Warden of Southborough, MA, as well as grandchildren Maxwell, Ferris, James, and Cameron. He is also survived by his brother, Tim (Laurie) Warden of Appleton, ME, and his sister, Mary Ellen (David Hertz) Warden of Mt. Kisco, NY.
William was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Ruth E. (nee Jones) Warden, and his brother, James Paul Warden.
