Williford Cunningham

Williford "Troy" Cunningham, 81 of Oberlin, formerly of Vermilion, died Tuesday, November, 25, 2008 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain after a lengthy illness. He was born March, 25, 1927 in Huntingdon, TN and has been a Vermilion resident since 1959 moving to Oberlin 2 and a half years ago. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 41 years starting in Sept. of 1959 and retiring as a tug driver in 2000. He was a member of the UAW #425. He enjoyed farming and had a passion for animals. Troy is survived by his daughters, Shirley A. McGuire of Newnan, GA; Barbara F. Alpaugh of Vermilion; and Judy C. Cunningham of Newnan, GA; sons, Steve R. Cunningham of Oberlin and David A. Cunningham of Miller, GA; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Lonnie Key of Medina, TN and Laverne Meredith of Huron. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie L. and Thelma L. (nee Miller) Cunningham, brothers, Homer and Arvil Cunningham; and sisters, Jean Swanson and Wilma James. Friends may call Friday, November 28, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St. Vermilion, OH. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November, 29, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Resecker, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
